Thanksgiving 2024

Lessons I've Learned

November 25th, 2024

How in the world does time fly by the way that it does. I've spent the last couple of days reflecting on our past adventures and the people and places that have had an immense impact on our lives.

Decorating the Christmas tree last night, my boys and I took a walk down memory lane as we placed handmade decorations from our special homes throughout the years on our tree. Little wooden handcarts with the kids names etched on them from the Handcart Ranch in Alcova, WY. Elk horns lit up with garland and lights from Westhound, MT. Hand made stockings from a dear friend in Ft. Davis, TX. Our “Framily” sign from dear life long friends that have become family. Little hand knit gloves that belonged to our beloved Grandma Jo.

SO MUCH LOVE! It left me a little speechless and overwhelmed.

This morning, the dry earth of Ojai, CA was blessed with a drizzle of rain. Bringing to life the distinct smells of the valley and this place we call home. The pepper trees are washed clean, the oak trees a little more vibrant, the horses filled with energy, and everything brimming with hope. How grateful I am.

I heard a wonderful quote at church yesterday, “gratitude unexpressed is ingratitude”. I hope I can live my life to express gratitude in all things, everyday.
